Doug,

I'd have to give credit to Edmund Clowney for the idea of using the idea of "thickening plot." Here is a lecture series that he helps with, it spends over 28 hours on this and related topics: http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Browse/rts-public.1674108893

No, I didn't take Dr. Wilder in 2006. The last time I had Dr. Wilder for the languages was in the Fall of 1998. It was his NT Textual Criticism class. It was a real eye opener...

Good thoughts. I'm trying to remember, but did we go through Greek at the same time? (that would be with Wilder in Fall 2006?)

I'm glad that I had the importance of the Biblical languages drilled into my head early on, and that I had a good start in Hebrew before seminary. Spending my M.Div. electives on additional language courses was the best use of those credits, I'm still convinced.

Your point about the next 10-20 years is dead-on. It can be intimidating to read commentaries or hear OT or NT scholars and think-"I can't ever read Greek like that." But little by little, over the course of 10-15 years, it's not as impossible a gap as one might think.

Praying for the brothers and sisters of my home soil. Thanks for the report and for your work in putting together what, by all reports, was an excellent pastor's conference.

We've been doing a series on the cross in the youth group I teach at on Wednesdays. Tonight was our 3rd session and we hung out in Ephesians 2:11-22 and focused on the "He is our peace" in relation to our corporate relationships as one body, one building, etc. and of course, how the Cross makes that possible.

Under point 1, you could probably add the corporate expressions from 1 Peter 2 as well. (priesthood, nation, etc.)
